Visiting a church for the first time is not always easy. At Emmanuel we want your visit to be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Here are a few questions that may come to mind when you think about attending a Sunday morning service:
Do I need to be invited? You do not need to be invited to attend EBC; we are happy to have you whenever you can come.
What should I wear? We believe God looks at the heart, not our clothes, so we encourage you to wear whatever is comfortable. You will find the full range of dress at Emmanuel. Some come dressed in their “Sunday best” while others come in casual wear (e.g., jeans).
What is the service like? Our services begin at 9:45 a.m. and run until about 10:55 a.m. A welcome and a few weekly announcements start the service. This is usually followed by a time of worship through singing and prayer. We sing a combination of contemporary worship music as well as long loved hymns of the Christian faith. Most weeks we spend some time sharing and then praying specifically for our joys as well as struggles. For approximately 25 to 30 minutes we hear from God’s Word.
What about my children? Families keep their children with them. There is a nursery room with washroom where parents can go if needed.
Will I be singled out? The short answer is no! You will be welcomed prior to the service by our ushers and after the service by the people of the church. You will not be asked to stand and introduce yourself.
Will I be asked for money? Opportunity is given each week for those who regularly attend Emmanuel to give. We do not ask or expect our guests to give. Whether or not you give something is up to you.
What else happens on Sunday mornings? Following the morning worship service children through adults meet in classes for encouragement and learning. Children go directly to their classrooms. Adults pick up a coffee in the gym prior to the start of their classes.
