Saturday, February 11 – 9-11a.m. - Mexico Mission Trip Fundraising Pancake Breakfast at the Southern Manitoba Convention Centre. This is part of the Winter Fun Day being held in our community. Please come out and support our Mission Team as they plan to go to Mexico to build 2 houses on spring break. There is no cost for this breakfast, donations are appreciated.

White Cross Workday

Monday, February 20, 9 am – 5 pm. Planning on helping out at our annual White Cross Workday!

White Cross is a support ministry of the North American Baptist Conference which provides needed medical supplies for our medical work in Cameroon & Nigeria in West Africa. Emmanuel Baptist focuses primarily on making bandages for this vital work. Without these donated supplies, costs would be prohibitive for patients seeking medical attention in these countries.

This is an activity the whole family can participate in to help support the work of medical missions in Cameroon & Nigeria in West Africa.

You can help by coming to the work day as well as donating old bed sheets for the bandages.

If you can answer yes to any of the above, then the Manitoba Baptist Association’s annual Women’s Retreat is designed with you in mind.

What makes this weekend so special is the combination of rest & relaxation, fellowship, worship and spiritual inspiration. This year’s speaker is Merrie Eizenga. Merrie is a gifted speaker, author, and teacher from Waterloo, ON. She is also a pastor’s wife and mother of 2 adult children.

Held at the Elkhorn Resort, located in the fabulous in Riding Mountain National Park, this is a weekend like no other. Equipped with its world class Solstice Spa, wonderful accommodations, and great food, Elkhorn Resort is the perfect place for a mid-winter getaway.

Workshops are optional, HOWEVER, all workshops require pre-registration. There will be NOsigning up at Elkhorn. You can register for the workshop(s) of your choice online or through the mail in brochure.

Aqua Size with Daphne Keck – Saturday 7:30–8:30 am. Limit 20 women.
In Step with Women’s Health – Brittany Schroeder, pharmacist at Swan Valley Health Centre. Saturday 1:00–2:00 pm.
In Step with Parenting – an introduction and preview of “Boundaries with Kids” by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend. Saturday 2:15–3:15 pm. Limit 10 women.
In Step with Accessories – Kathy Klassen (Calgary) will help you in making a large flower brooch out of seed beads. See example. Saturday 3:30–5:30 pm. Cost $20. Limit 15 women.

Solstice Spa

All retreat participants will receive 15% off the Mineral Pool passes to the spa. Pre-booking is not required for use of the Mineral Pool, but is for any treatments such as massage, manicure, etc. These should be booked well in advance of the treatment.

Christmas Eve Carol Service – 6:30 pm. Join us for an evening of music, drama and personal reflections.

Christmas Day Service – 11:00 am. Worship is one of the most appropriate responses to the amazing gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

New Year’s Day Service – 11:00 am. Welcome in the new year by worshiping the One who loves us with an everlasting love.

Mexico Missions Trip

March 23 – April 2, 2012

Building on a history of sending out short term mission teams, Emmanuel Baptist will again send out a team during spring break 2012. Nineteen (19) youth and adults from Emmanuel Baptist & the Open Door churches will be partnering with Hero Holiday in Mexico to build 2 homes for 2 families as well as looking for opportunities for evangelism. The project is located in the Vicente Guerrero area of the Baja Peninsula.

Their fundraising goal is $22,000. $14,000 of this goal will go to cover the cost of constructing the 2 homes for the 2 families.

Donations are gratefully accepted, but we are also willing to work to raise the needed funds to make the trip happen. The first fundraiser – a Babysitting Night – resulted in over $800 towards our goal.

Upcoming fundraisers are al Mexican Meal on January 15th and Soup & Pie Lunch on February 9th.

February 24 – 26, 2012 @ Camp Nutimik. A winter retreat for grades 8–12. Get your winter gear for a fantastic high school weekend getaway. Tube sliding, outdoor hockey, broomball, snowshoeing and a whole lot more. If the outdoors isn’t for you, that’s ok, we’ll have lots of indoor time just hanging out with a cup of hot coco.

Mark Henkelman will speak on the theme Light the Fire. He is famous for his ridiculous yet challenging stories.

Snow Sensation Weekend

January 13 – 15, 2012 @ Camp Nutimik. Just for kids in grades 4-5-6. A weekend with tube sliding, skating, snowshoeing, broomball, snow games and campfires. Liz Sacher with her crazy sayings and funky Bible story drawings will challenge kids about how Jesus can make a difference in their lives. Heaven is for Real

All adult Sunday School classes will be combined from December 4 through January 22 for the Heaven is for Real class. Using a combination of the Bible, short DVD sharing by Todd & Sonja Burpo & their son Colton as well as discussion, this class will explore the reality of heaven and what we can look forward to once this life is over.

Time: 11:00 am each Sunday morning.
